We're Excited to Share Our Safe Reopening Plans!
First and foremost, thank you everyone who has made the necessary adjustments during COVID-19 to help us ensure that hungry people continued to be fed in Lawrence. This kind of willingness is what makes our community awesome!
At last we are ready to reopen LINK’s dining room, Thursday, September 2.
Precautions that will be implemented to minimize the risk of COVID-19
- Air purifiers for the dining and serving areas
- A new staff member to assist with routine cleaning and sanitizing dining and serving areas

- Until further notice, masks will be required to be worn by staff and volunteer servers.
- The dining area will set up to provide for safe social distancing

Again, thank you for sticking with us.

To our LINK serving groups:
Thank you for serving and donating food for LINK! We are very excited to announce that we will be reopening the LINK dining room on Thursday, September 2, with serving times all remaining the same as they are now. For the time being, we will still be serving pre-packaged meals, but our guests will be able to eat in the dining room.
Although many COVID restrictions have been lifted, in order to minimize any remaining risks associated with COVID-19, the LINK board of directors has approved a plan to purchase air purifiers for the dining and serving areas, along with the hiring of a custodian to assist with routine cleaning and sanitizing of those areas. We will require masks to be worn by guests (except when eating), and by our staff and volunteer servers, until further notice. The arrangement of the dining area will provide for safe social distancing, as well. Our LINK staff members are fully vaccinated.
Beginning immediately, we are asking serving groups to begin providing two to four volunteers on their serving days, to assist LINK staff. For example, if your group provides sack lunches, two volunteers will be needed; if your group provides casseroles or other food that needs to be packaged on-site, four volunteers will be needed.
We so appreciate our volunteers! We know that some groups have been hesitant to return to serving in person at LINK, so we are hopeful that you will let your volunteers know that we are working hard to protect everyone who serves or dines here.
Thank you very much!
The LINK Board of Directors
