A Truckload of Love
From Amy Carlson, LINK board member:
Earlier this fall, I was contacted by a member of St.Margaret’s Episcopal Church, who said that LINK was selected for their Pantry Power campaign. All I needed to do was let him know 5 wish list items that we use at LINK. Wow! How easy is that? And, within a month, a group arrived with everything we asked for, AND more! A truck loaded with 120 large cans of fruits and vegetables, 30+ containers of ground coffee, new oven mitts, and other swell goodies were unloaded by happy (and strong) volunteers.
At LINK we are reminded of those who are struggling, each time someone comes through the lunch line. It’s hard to continue to be generous with time and money when it seems as though homelessness, addiction, poverty, and loneliness are never ending. I have come to know that, while difficult, these things meant to teach us the greater dimensions of what it means to be human. I cannot describe the gratitude that is felt so deeply in our hearts when people in our community step up and make a difference. Our serving groups are #LINKHEROES, as are individuals who consistently show up. You truly have no idea how terrific you are. Thank you.
